Free Stable Diffusion Image Metadata Remover
Stable Diffusion tools run on your own computer, and many of them save your full prompt, seed and settings inside the image file. This tool shows exactly what is stored and removes it without changing the picture.
What Stable Diffusion puts in your images
Stable Diffusion is open source, so what ends up in a file depends on the interface you used. Here is how the most common ones store generation data.
AUTOMATIC1111: the “parameters” text chunk
AUTOMATIC1111's web UI writes its generation info into a PNG text chunk named “parameters”. It holds your prompt and negative prompt plus settings such as steps, sampler, CFG scale, seed, image size and model details, and extensions can add their own settings.
ComfyUI: “prompt” and “workflow”
ComfyUI embeds two JSON fields, “prompt” and “workflow”, in the text chunks of the PNGs it saves. According to ComfyUI's documentation this is on by default, and the workflow field lets anyone who has the file rebuild your whole node graph.
Other tools
Fooocus, InvokeAI and NovelAI also record generation details in their images. The field names differ by tool, so this tool lists whichever text fields it finds and lets you decide what to keep.
What this tool can’t remove
This tool removes embedded metadata only. Some hosted services built on Stable Diffusion add their own watermarks or provenance records, and pixel-level watermarks are not metadata, so they are not removed here.

How to remove metadata from a Stable Diffusion image
- 1
Use the original PNG from your tool's output folder. Converting to JPEG, screenshotting, or downloading through some websites may already have removed the text.
- 2
Drop the file into the tool above. It is read in your browser and never uploaded.
- 3
Look for the “AI generation settings” items. Each shows a short preview of what is stored. Tick “Keep” on anything you want to leave in.
- 4
Choose “Remove all metadata” and download the clean copy. Keep your original file if you want to reload the settings or workflow later.
Stable Diffusion metadata questions
What metadata does Stable Diffusion save in images?
It depends on the interface. AUTOMATIC1111 saves a “parameters” text chunk with your prompt, negative prompt and settings. ComfyUI saves “prompt” and “workflow” JSON. Other tools such as Fooocus, InvokeAI and NovelAI store their own generation details.
Can someone read my prompt from my image?
If the PNG still has its text chunks, yes. Viewers and parsers can read them, and ComfyUI can rebuild a full workflow just from the file. Removing the metadata before you share the image takes that information out.
Why does my Stable Diffusion image have no metadata?
Converting to JPEG, taking a screenshot, or downloading from many websites and social platforms usually drops the text. ComfyUI can also be started with a setting that disables saving metadata, and its documentation lists PNG rather than JPEG as the format that carries it.
Can I still reload my ComfyUI workflow after cleaning?
Not from the cleaned file, because the embedded workflow is removed. Keep your original image, or tick “Keep” on the workflow item to leave it in.
Does cleaning change the image quality?
No. The pixel data is copied exactly as it was and only the metadata blocks are dropped, so the picture is identical.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser, and the cleaned copy is created on your device.
